At School Lane Surgery we are lucky in having an in-house pharmacy to make accessing medication as convenient as possible. However, it’s crucial to understand that the pharmacy within School Lane Surgery operates independently. It is not managed by our surgery or staff.
Pharmacies, both within and outside medical practices, play a vital role in the primary care. They face unique challenges, especially when the need for medication increases and other pharmacies close, as we have seen locally. They also face a recognised workforce pressure with a shortage of trained Pharmacists nationally.
We appreciate the hard work of all our pharmacy colleagues and the challenges they face. We are committed to helping support all primary care stakeholders to ensure that the service you receive is as smooth and efficient as possible.
Recently we have seen an increase in frustration directed at the School Lane Surgery reception in relation to School Lane Pharmacy. Whilst the pharmacy is based in the surgery and the names are very similar, it is natural to think we are the same; we are not. The staff have no control on School Lane Pharmacy any more than it would on any other community pharmacy. It is a different organisation to School Lane Surgery.
If you have questions, feedback, or concerns regarding any pharmacy, we kindly ask that you reach out to the pharmacy directly. By directing your pharmacy-related inquiries to the pharmacy, you enable our reception staff to focus on providing all patients with the best care possible within our surgery.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
