SMS messages has become an integral part of our patient communication strategy, ensuring you stay informed about your care. From appointment reminders to convenient booking options, we’re leveraging the power of text messages to improve communications.
Appointment Reminders and Booking
Receive a text reminder 24 hours before your appointment time, and if plans change, easily cancel via the link provided. We’ve successfully implemented text-based booking for flu vaccines this season and we are rolling out HCA & Nurse appointments for suitable conditions, making it a swift and efficient without the need to call the surgery. For this you will be sent a link to book an appointment at a time to suit you.
Please note that GP appointments cannot be booked this way.
Questionnaires
Say goodbye to unnecessary trips to the surgery. Our SMS linked questionnaires are sent out when a relevant long-term condition (i.e., Asthma) is due. This allows you to update us on your condition without leaving the comfort of your home or booking time off work. Submit responses securely, and our clinicians will review them. No need to visit the surgery unless necessary.
Clinician Messages
Sometimes for quick issues to be resolved, a clinician may send you an SMS. This could be to advise that a prescription has been completed or links they think you may find useful. Saving you time and allowing for a much more efficient service.
Efficient Record Updates
Need to update your details? Whether it’s your smoking status or other essential information, our SMS questionnaires make record updates quick and easy. We will send out regular SMS questions to patients who may have incomplete details on their record. Such as email address, smoking status or ethnicity. Just a quick text, and your medical record is up to date.
Is SMS Safe
Rest assured; your data is our priority. We will never request financial information via text. If you ever doubt the authenticity of a message, reach out to the surgery. Every message sent is securely logged in your care record.
Opting Out
Your preferences matter. If you wish to opt out of receiving SMS messages, contact us by phone or fill in the form on our website under ‘Ask the Practice a Question’ HERE. We respect your choices and will promptly update your preferences.
Greener Option
Using SMS to communicate with patients offers a greener alternative by reducing the need for printing and posting letters where possible. This minimises paper waste and the environmental impact associated with printing and postage. Additionally, SMS requires less energy consumption compared to traditional methods, contributing to lower carbon emissions. We are a Greener Practice and actively look for ways to reduce our impact and promote sustainability.
So stay connected with School Lane Surgery through SMS – because your health matters, and so does your convenience!
