As you may be aware, the Thetford Healthy Living Centre is undergoing a significant transformation to improve healthcare services for our patients and accommodate the growing needs of our community.
Work started in September 2023, and working with NHS England, Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board, as well as other health stakeholders, we’re undertaking an ambitious improvement project including:
- Adding additional clinical rooms on the first floor. This expansion aims to optimise the centre’s capacity so we can provide a comprehensive range of healthcare services to our patients and wider community.
- Addressing the issue of parking. We’re excited to announce an increase in parking spaces which will improve access for visitors, and reduce the inconvenience of finding suitable parking when visiting the centre.
- Installing an additional lift. A state-of-the-art lift is being installed to complement the current lift. This will ensure that everyone, regardless of their mobility levels, can easily access all the centre’s facilities.
The reason behind these improvements is a commitment to serving our current patients as well as the expanding local population. With new residential developments, it is essential that healthcare infrastructure evolves to meet the growing demand for services. This project is being supported by the Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board and is funded by the Department of Health and Social Care at a total cost of £2.8 million to help improve healthcare services in Thetford and South Norfolk.
We are pleased to be collaborating with other healthcare stakeholders such as West Suffolk Hospital and our community healthcare providers to create an improved space for our local population to access a wide range of preventative, health, and community care services.
We would like to thank all our patients and the wider community for their continued support and patience whilst this work is ongoing, which is due to finish in late spring 2024.
We kindly ask patients and visitors to please take extra care and travel by public transport to the centre during this time wherever possible.
If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to speak to a member of staff.
