We are aware that a small number of patients have recently discovered that they are no longer registered with our surgery, despite believing they should still be on our list.
We understand how concerning and frustrating this can be, and we want to reassure our patients that School Lane Surgery is not routinely removing patients from our surgery list.
What is happening?
NHS England and Primary Care Support England (PCSE) periodically carry out a national patient list validation programme. This process is designed to ensure that GP surgery lists remain accurate and up to date by identifying records that may require review.
Whilst this work is intended to improve the quality of NHS records, it has become clear that, in some cases, patients who should have remained registered have been removed from GP surgery lists in error. This is not an issue affecting only School Lane Surgery and has been reported by surgeries across the country.
GP surgeries and representative bodies have raised concerns with NHS England and PCSE about the impact this is having on patients, and we continue to feed back any cases where we believe the process has resulted in an incorrect removal.
What should I do if I think I have been removed?
If you have been told that you are no longer registered with School Lane Surgery, or you believe you may have been removed unexpectedly, please contact us as soon as possible.
Our team will:
- Investigate what has happened.
- Explain the reason, where this information is available.
- Re Register you, if appropriate.
- Liaise with the relevant NHS organisations where further investigation is required.
